Mayor Lars Krarup looking for exciting events

I think that all sports are fun to follow

In 2012, during paused, as all forces would gather around the start of Giro d`talia, but in 2017, Herning show why they are Denmark and perhaps Scandinavia's bicycle capital, both in the European Championships in August and GP Herning in April, which pleased the city's Left Mayor Lars Krarup.

There is no doubt that a lot of local citizens are very fond of racing. There is great interest in being a spectator to the big race that settled in these parts.

Krarup is convinced that cycling joy not confined to the spectator rows.

A lot of practice cycling as exercise. There are also many who cycle to and from work and of course we are also a lot of support from the municipality to the construction of bicycle paths. Basically it is the simply healthy and fun to ride, whether you do it as an elite athlete, jogger or just to get some fresh air every day.

The mayor is also glad it is precisely his city that hosts the largest one-day race.

I think that all sports are fun to follow and I will also like in the races.

I have several times had the pleasure of being in the support vehicle for the GP Herning, it is always exciting.

Lars Krarup is also quite conscious of the profile he and the team at the municipality wants to draw.

In Herning Municipality we want to be known as an area where it is attractive both to stay, live, work and study. Therefore, we are committed to attracting and hosting major events and events, both in sports and culture. GP Herning fits perfectly into the ambition and it's great to see that the race has got its own clear profile.

This year the racing for the 24th time and has become a recurring event among the many events in Herning.

It starts from Bjarne Riis`s honorary tile on the square in Herning, which also forms a unique setting for the finale of the first part of PostNord Cup.

A backdrop which also is used in EM week where all the races line goes into the square and only 5 km to goal on the last lap. The major events that closes the center of increases pressure on the city and here is the commitment from the townspeople and merchants crucial.

Fortunately, it is such that local citizens in large numbers backs up when there are big events, not just in the center of Herning, but everywhere in the municipality. I really appreciate that.

Herning is both known for engaged spectator but not least also volunteers to help at the big events.

When we run big events in Herning, we are completely dependent on volunteers lend a hand. I am very grateful that it's never a problem to get enough volunteers hands. I feel that it is almost part of the Herning area DNA to volunteer. For daily life in the many, many associations, but also when there is something extraordinary.

With regard to several bike celebrations is Lars Krarup certainly not dismissive.

I can quite generally say that Herning Municipality is constantly looking for exciting events, including within the sport of cycling. But there is nothing concrete in the pipeline right now.

However, it is not without reason that the mayor is so fond of what he calls the Herning area DNA, the city has been very adept at attracting major event for many years, where an interaction between the municipality, the trade fair and enterprising citizen has challenged the country largest cities make their mark on the cultural map where Herning often run with the event ahead of the competition.

It plays certainly a role that we now have a lot of experience to bid for - and organize major events.

This means that we quite know exactly what is needed and what we need to be able to deliver on.

At the same time, as I just mentioned, great support from the many volunteers and it also means a lot.
